The New Student Orientation Program has a component specifically geared towards our international students. The program, in its entirety, is offered by the Division of Student Affairs in cooperation with many other LIM offices. The program includes various mandatory educational sessions and social activities to prepare international students to adjust to life at LIM, life in New York City, and life in the United States. The schedule for first-year students can be downloaded here and the schedule for transfer students can be downloaded here.

All international students should plan to arrive in New York City by Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the latest. The program will begin on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 12:00 pm in the Maxwell Hall Student Center (LIM College, 216 East 45th Street, New York, NY 10017).

Mandatory New Student Check-In

Federal regulations require that newly-admitted international F-1 and J-1 students must report to the Office of International Student Services (iss@limcollege.edu) to confirm their arrival on LIM's campus for required government reporting and to understand important immigration regulations and procedures required of F-1 and J-1 students.

During the Mandatory New Student Check-in (August 17-18):

  • You will meet Kate Levy, Coordinator of International Student Services
  • You can ask questions about International Student Orientation and travel documents
  • You can ask questions about life at LIM College
  • You can ask questions about New Student Orientation (for all incoming first-year undergraduates): orientation@limcollege.edu

As a part of New Student Orientation, you will have access to Orientation Leaders (OLs). OLs are students, much like yourself, who serve as mentors and share their experiences and help new students navigate the New Student Orientation Program. As current students, they are ready to answer your questions about life at LIM and in NYC. The College's administrators and faculty will also be present throughout the day to answer questions and give advice about academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular opportunities at LIM College.

As a reminder, the first day of classes begins Monday, August 28, 2017.
