I had lived in a residence hall, and I am currently living in an apartment. There are many stores I continually buy from, because I know that they have when I am looking for. Here are a few of my favorite stores when I am looking for room decor, wall art, storage, and essentials.

Ikea
Ikea is a great option when looking for storage boxes, desk organizers and small furniture.
Here are a few items I have picked up from Ikea recently.
HomeGoods and TJ Maxx
These stores are great for wall decor, throw pillows, and laundry baskets. TJ Maxx and HomeGoods are constantly receiving new merchandise for their stores, and you can expect to find something different every time you visit. I recommend HomeGoods for wall decor, because the pieces tend to be unique and one of a kind. I purchased these items in store, and their online store has different items, but I included links to similar items.
Target
Target has everything you need and more. What is great about Target is their dorm section for dorm necessities!
My favorite purchase from Target was 79 cent plastic plates, cups, and bowls. That's right, 79 cents! These were great for when I didn't feel like using ceramic plates or cups, and these are also microwave friendly.
Another great purchase from Target was the over the door mirror. This was only 7 dollars and doesn't require any assembly of pieces.
Thrift Stores
I haven't personally bought anything from a thrift store that I could use for wall decor, but I have friends who have. I think it is a great way to find very cheap picture frames, unique decor, and even furniture that is in good condition. I have also been to thrift stores and seen brand new sets of silverware and plates. This could be perfect for young adults.
Amazon
I love Amazon because of how fast items are shipped using prime.
