I was in your shoes 4 years ago. Attending LIM is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, but it wasn’t my only choice at the time. In addition to LIM, I was considering Parsons and FIT.
Here's why I chose LIM:
- Internships: At LIM there is a requirement of three internships built into the degree program. I knew that would push me out of my comfort zone and allow me to enter the industry with experience under my belt.
- Small class sizes: The average class size is just 13 students. No big lecture halls! I thrive in a setting where I can get to know my professors.
- My future career: The positions LIM students were getting after graduation were impressive—and better than I saw at other schools. (The Class of 2020 had a 94% Career Outcomes rate!)
- Location: I'm from Florida, so moving was a big decision. LIM is in midtown Manhattan. Here, I have access to everything I need (including the shops on 5th Avenue!)
I felt like FIT was more well-known for their design program, which I wasn't interested in, and Parsons didn't have the major I wanted to pursue, which was Marketing. I also received a scholarship from LIM which helped reduce the overall cost.
In the end, I made a “pros” and “cons” list to visually see that LIM was the right pick for me!
