As part of LIM’s ongoing commitment to connecting students with industry professionals, Florina Adili (’10), a Regional Vice President for Ulta Beauty, and Ulta District Manager Ryan Laney were on campus to discuss career opportunities and paths for growth in retail management and leadership.
Adili and Laney met with a group of approximately 60 current and prospective students to share their own career journeys, sharing lessons they learned along the way, including the value of mentorship, networking, taking initiative, and staying adaptable.
"Journeys are not linear," Adili said, addressing students in the audience. "Embrace the journey, embrace the ride, and look for a niche with growth potential. You want to be with a company that's growing, because as soon as that happens, you're right there ready to go."
The pair also explained what store executives do in their roles, which entails balancing operations, people management, and optimizing the customer experience.
Several students in attendance were there as part of LIM’s “Student for a Day” program, which allows prospective future LIM students to get a preview of what it’s like to attend LIM, including learning more about fashion and lifestyle career options and attending sample classes with LIM faculty.
