LIM College was the site for Fashion Group International’s Feb. 25 Black History Month – Rising Star Dialogues event, which featured a discussion with three past recipients of FGI’s Rising Star Award.
FGI is a worldwide membership organization of industry leaders in the fashion, beauty, lifestyle and retail sectors with global headquarters in New York.
Moderated by Musa Jackson, CEO & Founder of Ambassador Digital Magazine, the panel explored the role of Black designers in fashion and how the culture has led key fashion moments in history. Several LIM students had the opportunity to attend the session.

Panelists shared their personal experiences and insights on the challenges faced by Black designers in the industry, the influence of Black culture on fashion, and the need for sustainable support and community. The conversation ended with a call for creatives to remain curious and continue to uplift each other within the industry.
