Two Fashion Merchandising majors earn top honors.

Continuing LIM’s tradition of excellence in education for the business of fashion, two talented students were recently awarded top prizes by leading fashion industry organizations.

On April 7, Fatmata Camara ('26), a student in LIM’s online bachelor’s degree program in Fashion Merchandising, and an assistant buyer at Macy’s, received the $25,000 Chairman’s Award Scholarship from the Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF) at a gala dinner attended by luminaries such as Anna Wintour, Christian Siriano, Coco Rocha, and Macy’s CEO Tony Spring.

Students from around the country competed for the award, which was determined by the submission of a strategic case study. Fatmata’s entry focused on the intersection of digital technology and fashion/beauty for a skincare brand. She presented a concept for a new technology that would leverage existing AI and biosensitive technology to deliver personalized skincare solutions.

In her speech to accept the FSF Chairman’s Award, Fatmata noted that so much of her drive comes from her family, remarking that her mother always said, “I did everything … so you could be anything.”

The following week, on April 16, Camille Jiang ('26), a student in LIM College’s bachelor’s degree program in Fashion Merchandising, received the second annual “Future Fashion” award. Sponsored by Macy’s and awarded through Fashion Group International (FGI), the award comes with a $1,000 tuition grant.

Camille was recognized at FGI’s 29th annual Rising Star Awards luncheon, a prestigious industry event that celebrates up and coming talent in the fields of fashion and beauty. This year’s luncheon was hosted by comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish.

According to Maryanne Grisz, President and CEO of FGI, “The Future Fashion Award sponsored by Macy’s recognizes one stand-out junior or senior currently enrolled in a fashion merchandising program at an affiliated university within FGI’s U.S. network whose passion, analytical skills, creativity, and vision mark them as a rising star in the field of fashion merchandising.”

LIM’s Fatmata Camara received the inaugural Future Fashion award in 2024.
