What brought you to LIM College?
While searching for the right college in the USA, I came across a list of top fashion schools in New York, and LIM was high on the list. I was looking for a college that would really understand my past academic work and offer me courses to take my next desired step. LIM’s master’s in the Business of Fashion was exactly what I needed, so I applied! The school was keen to understand my career path and give me the right career guidance.
What has your experience at LIM been like?
While it was initially hard only having online classes due to the pandemic, LIM made these classes fun! My professors were, and are, very kind and helpful. Through their feedback, I’ve sharpened the skills required to work in the fashion industry.
I got appointed to work as an International Student Orientation Leader. This gives me the opportunity to share my journey with so many incoming students. I also really love working with International Student Services to aid anyone I can. Also, one thing I really enjoyed was being selected for the LIM Dance Club and we got to perform during LIM’s annual fashion show. Even though it was a virtual show, to record the performance and be a part of this important event was a very memorable moment for me.
Please tell us about career opportunities you've had as an LIM student.
I job-hunted through LIM’s career and networking platform, called Handshake. I applied for internship positions and got in touch with LIM alumni working in the fashion industry. I was able to land a great role as an E-commerce and Marketing Intern for a jewelry group. And this semester, I am working as a Digital Merchandising intern at Authentic Brands Group.
What is it like being an international student at LIM?
Being an international student can be intimidating, but LIM’s Graduate Studies department and International Student Services offices have always made all the processes easy for me. Whenever I’ve had concerns, about my visa status for example, I just reached out and they helped with everything.
