An Internship Becomes a Full-Time Career

What made you choose to pursue your master’s degree in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Management at LIM?

I graduated with my bachelor’s in Classics from Boston College in 2013. I then worked retail, sales, and management roles that brought me from Boston to NYC. I learned about LIM while researching part-time grad programs in 2019, and it was my best choice for the quality of education at a reasonable cost. I also liked that my curriculum would be well rounded, versus focusing on a very specific set of skills.



What did you like best about your master’s program?

I most enjoyed hearing about the experiences of my professors and classmates. It was helpful to learn real-world examples of what we were studying, rather than simply reading out of a book. Plus, everyone came from different areas of the world and with different stories.

Tell us about the internship you completed through LIM. How did it help you advance your career?

During my final semester at LIM, I interned on the Splendid wholesale team at Delta Galil. At the end of the internship, I was offered to transition into a full-time role, and it was an easy process to simply continue the work I’d started in the fall! My internship allowed me to build relationships with people that I still work with and to practice skills I had learned in my classes.

How did the courses you took help you in the workplace?

Much of my job centers on production, merchandising, and selling, and I’ve been able to pull knowledge from each course into my role.

I actually did class presentations on a few of the partner companies I work with now, and this gave me tons of helpful background knowledge on how their businesses are run. Even the little things, like my retail math cheat sheet, came in handy during my transition from intern to full-timer.

My LIM graduate program, including my internship, gave me the confidence to know that I’m in the right place professionally and completely able to do the job in front of me.
