A New York Times article highlighted LIM College alumnus Jahleel Weaver as "a strong candidate for stylist of the year."
The 2008 graduate is deputy creative director at Fenty, the fashion brand started by Rihanna in 2019. The Times article chronicles Jahleel's ascent through the industry and offers an up-close look at the working relationship he developed with one of the biggest superstars in entertainment and business.
Key elements have distinguished Jahleel as a change-agent in luxury retail. He helped innovate Fenty's strategy to release several "capsule collections" throughout the year, and he’s contributed to the brand’s trailblazing reputation as a powerful fashion company driven by people of color.
“Because of people like Ri constantly breaking barriers,” Jahleel says in the piece, “it makes it a lot easier to exist in a space where representation for people of color didn’t necessarily exist.”
