Hometown: Harrisburg, PA
Major: Fashion Media

What are you majoring in as an LIM student? Can you tell us what you're enjoying about your program?
I love being a Fashion Media major because I'm learning about topics I am truly passionate about. My favorite courses have definitely been my journalism writing and TV/media classes. They challenge me to grow creatively and think critically. Some of my courses don't even feel like work because I am genuinely learning through real life scenarios!

What made you choose LIM, and what are you enjoying about your experience here?
I chose LIM College because I knew that when I graduated, I'd be academically and professionally prepared to enter the career field I wanted to go into. What I really want to do is work in production on the entertainment side. Through my LIM classes, and just my overall passions, I know a typical 9-5 corporate-style job isn't for me. I need fast pace, high energy, and doing what I love!

Before moving to New York for school, I'd only ever been here one time. But from that one time, I knew I wanted to be in NYC. I love the fast-paced environment, where you have access to almost everything. There's a certain electricity to NYC that you don't get anywhere else.

Speaking of fast paced, please tell us about the internship you're completing at NASCAR.
My internship with NASCAR has been one of the best experiences I have had. As a licensing intern, I meet with my team and different brands, like Fanatics or prospective new partners, to discuss future collections. I sit in on meetings with high-level executives and make suggestions to different departments on how to expand NASCAR’s demographic. I also complete a number of projects that assist on the marketing side of licensing, brand outreach, and research.

How does LIM prepare students for positions that aren't exclusive to fashion, but the wider world of business, commerce, PR, etc.?
The best part about my classes at LIM is that they aren't all fashion based. They all incorporate fashion elements, but they teach us so much more than just that. They apply the different concepts to more broadened careers and give you a well-rounded business education.

Anything else you’d like to share?
Not only are my classes amazing, but I love the extracurriculars at LIM. I was part of The Lexington Line, which allowed me to become a better writer with each story I told. Also being part of the Film Club creates a sense of community, which was so important when you're new to a school and to a city.
