Hometown: Louisville, Kentucky
Program: Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Fashion Merchandising
What was your educational experience before starting this program?
Originally, I was an on-campus student at LIM. I lived in the residence hall and it was an amazing experience. I decided to do the online program because it was a better fit for me. I was moving to Las Vegas to be with my husband and doing the program online was more budget-friendly.
What made you choose LIM in the first place?
As soon as I toured LIM, I knew it was the perfect college for me. When you say you go to fashion school, people assume you're studying how to draw and design. I loved that LIM focused on the business side of the industry. Numbers are what I am good at and what I am more passionate about. I was so happy to find a college that understood fashion is a business.
What’s happening in your career now?
I am currently working full time at Francesca’s as a Sales Manager. Previously, I was a Sales Manager for TOPSHOP, where I learned a lot of skills about running a store. In my new role, I am able to use what I learned at school with my previous experience and generate a successful business.
What are your career goals going forward?
I am planning on getting a masters degree in accounting. I hope to become a business analyst or a corporate account. I also love wholesale because of my internship experience, and I could see myself going that direction as well.
What has it been like to take your classes online?
I have absolutely loved the online learning experience. Being an online student allowed me to work full-time, intern, and have an 18-credit course load. The best thing about the program is that you can be anywhere. I have lived in three different states while participating in this program.
What advice would you give to someone who’s thinking about applying to an online program at LIM?
Do it! The online program is a lot of work and takes dedication. However, it allows you to get more real-world experience! Every day is your day to decide what you want to do rather than just sitting in a classroom.
