As a Marketing major at LIM, Annalie learned her professional passion was for event planning. Her LIM connections led to an internship at a major New York City arena, which turned into a full-time job after graduation.
Why did you choose LIM College?
I transferred to LIM from a state school. As great as that school was, I didn’t find the fashion program challenging enough. My mom had researched LIM and once we toured the campus, we knew this was the best place for me to study the business side of fashion and get the best connections for a future career.
What’s happening in your career now?
I am the Speaker Program Manager at Amazon under the Ads entity. I strategize, certify, prepare, and support internal and external speakers, such as senior leaders at Amazon, Alix Earle, and Gwyneth Paltrow at our owned and earned events worldwide.
How did LIM help you pursue your career path?
LIM has connections that other universities can’t compare to. I was lucky enough to begin my career after running into Betsey Johnson on the street after moving in to the LIM dorms. She asked where I went to school, I said LIM, and she offered me an internship. My final internship which landed me my full time job upon graduation came about because my professor knew my interested and introduced me to a former LIM student of his who worked in the same industry. The attention each student gets, plus the connections LIM has really sets up students for success.
How do you maintain a work/life balance?
You have to remember we work to live, not live to work. I am so thankful to be on a team with amazing professionals who appreciate their lives outside of work. It really makes all the difference. I am also lucky that I get to travel for work, so I always try to tack on a personal trip at the end my work trip.
