LIM College held its first “Cannabis Career Connect” on November 8 in Maxwell Hall. The 2-hour event featured a talk with five cannabis industry professionals, followed by time for students to network and learn more about internship and employment opportunities with cannabis businesses.
The panel discussion, titled “Where Fashion and Cannabis Meet,” focused on the convergence of fashion and cannabis. Moderated by Jaime Lubin, Editor at Large for Honeysuckle Media, the participants were:
- Laura Eisman – Co-Founder, Her Highness
- Jes Feuer, Marketing Director, Etain Health
- Laura Matlin, MPS '23 - Marketing Associate, House of Puff
- Kate Miller - Co-Founder and CEO, Miss Grass
- Beryl Solomon – Founder and CEO, Poplar and LIM College adjunct faculty member
The panelists discussed the challenges of working in a rapidly changing and highly regulated field and stressed the importance of flexibility and perseverance.
Parallels between the cannabis and fashion industries were also explored. Solomon previously worked fashion companies such as Theory and Kate Spade, while Feuer did PR for European fashion brands that included Lacoste and TopShop.
Solomon observed that fashion and cannabis were both about selling products to people, saying, “It’s about having the right product, in the right place, at the right time.”
Matlin, who was in the inaugural graduating class of LIM’s master’s degree program in the Business of Cannabis, discussed her career journey from audiology to cannabis, noting that she was hired for her current position at House of Puff after interning with the company as an LIM student.
