The 86th Annual Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF) Awards Gala took place April 3 in New York City and was hosted by Karlie Kloss. The evening's honorees were legendary Vogue Editorial Director Anna Wintour and Emma Grede, Co-Founder & CEO of Good American and Founding Partner of Skims. The student winner of this year's FSF $25,000 Chairman’s Award was also announced at the event, where all finalists—representing schools from across the country—were in attendance.
The FSF is a nonprofit organization supporting students in the fashion industry, and each year they award more than one million dollars in scholarships.
Focusing on a different topic each year, the annual case study scholarship is the FSF's signature program that challenges participants to address real-world issues facing today's fashion industry. This year, projects covered a range of topics, from sustainability to accessibility in fashion. Clay's winning case study focused on a physical and virtual adaptive clothing line, marketed toward autistic children.
“Winning this award is not only a dream come true, but the ignition for the career I am working to build," said Clay. "I am excited to work towards a new future of fashion, and I am incredibly thankful to the FSF for believing in my work and vision.”
Clay currently works as an Assistant Merchant for Todd Snyder, a position he obtained after completing an LIM internship at the company.
