As part of LIM’s 2021 campus enhancement construction project, architects are creating two prominently situated mural spaces—and the College is turning to its students to determine what will be displayed in those centerpiece areas.
The “Where Business Meets Fashion” Student Design Competition officially kicked off this month. Teams of 1-4 LIM students are being challenged to create original imagery conveying the concept, “LIM College: Where Business Meets Fashion.”
Said Dr. Lisa Springer, Provost of LIM College, “This artwork will immediately grab the attention of every visitor to the space. Since LIM College has always been the place where business meets fashion, we realized there’s no one better than our students to help us ‘show’ rather than ‘tell’ that story to everyone who comes to campus.”
With mentoring from Visual Studies faculty member Katie Hawkins, students are placing their proposed designs into a template. The template selected as the winning entry will then be used by the construction team in finalizing the 16-foot x 32-foot murals.
In addition to having a large-scale installation project to add to their resumes, each student member of the winning team will receive a $500 cash prize and have their names displayed with their work.
The winner(s) of the “Where Business Meets Fashion” Student Design Competition will be announced in early May.
