Graduate Admissions Process Overview

We aim to make applying to start a master’s degree at LIM College’s Marcuse School of Graduate Studies as smooth and stress-free as possible. 

Here's what you need to know about our admissions process:

  • Flexible semester start: Begin your studies in an on-campus master’s program in either the Fall or Spring semester, aligning your education with your schedule and goals.
  • No application deadlines: Our rolling admissions policy means you can submit your application at any time. This flexibility ensures that you can apply when it suits you best. We recommend applying as early as possible, as available spots may be limited. 
  • Prompt admission decisions: Once you’ve met all application requirements, we will provide you with an admissions decision within just two to four weeks. This quick response allows you to plan your future without delay.

Graduate Admission Requirements

At the Marcuse School of Graduate Studies, we value your pursuit of higher education to reach your professional goals. Our admissions process ensures that you have the opportunity to showcase your unique qualities and potential. 

To that end, we ask that prospective graduate students submit the following admissions materials:

  1. Application for admission: Fill out and submit our online application.
  2. Transcripts: Submit official transcripts from the institution from which you earned (or will be earning) your undergraduate degree. We may also request transcripts from other colleges or universities you attended at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  3. Résumé: Share your professional and educational experiences through a résumé or curriculum vitae (CV) that demonstrates chronological work experience.
  4. Essay: Write a 350-500 word essay on one of the following topics:
    • Describe your specific career aspirations and your reasons for pursuing a master's degree.
    • Describe a career-related achievement or failure. How has this experience impacted your career?
    • Discuss your commitment and dedication to working in the global fashion and lifestyle industry.
  5. Letter(s) of recommendation: Submit one letter of recommendation* from an academic or work-related reference. This letter should demonstrate insight into your teamwork, leadership, communication, and intellectual and interpersonal skills and abilities, as well as your strengths and weaknesses. (*Two letters of recommendation are required for MBA applicants.)
  6. Interview: All master’s degree applicants take part in an interview. Depending on if you are a domestic or international applicant, you can schedule an in-person, phone, or online interview.
  7. English Proficiency: All non-native English language speakers must demonstrate English language competency. View the requirements on the International Admissions page.

How to Apply to LIM College: 6 Simple Steps

Begin the admissions process by creating an admissions account and submitting an online application. You can save your progress and return to your application at your convenience. Once it’s completed submit your application.

Share your work experience by directly uploading your résumé or CV within your online application. Highlight your professional journey, including significant achievements, job responsibilities, and key skills that demonstrate your readiness for graduate studies.

Address one of the following topics in a 350-500 word essay. Use this opportunity to provide insights into your personal and professional journey, showcasing your vision and commitment to your chosen field within fashion and lifestyle. 

  • Describe your specific career aspirations and your reason for pursuing a master's degree.
  • Describe a career-related achievement or failure. How has this experience impacted your career?
  • Discuss your commitment and dedication to working in the global fashion and lifestyle industry.

Provide one letter of recommendation from an academic or work-related reference for our MPS and MS degrees. Two letters of recommendation are required for the MBA.

Follow the steps in the online application to prompt your reference to submit their recommendation, or they can email it directly to graduateadmissions@limcollege.edu.

Once you reach the interview section in the online application, we will email you a registration link that you can use to sign up for an interview time slot.

Domestic applicants can interview in person or over the phone. International applicants can interview in person or via a video conferencing application (such as Zoom or Skype) and must send a picture of their photo ID beforehand.

Send us official transcripts or proof of graduation documents from your undergraduate institution. We may also request transcripts from all other colleges or universities you have attended at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Send your documents via mail, email, or through a third-party service, such as Naviance or Parchment. Electronic delivery is preferred. Documents should be sent to graduateadmissions@limcollege.edu. Please note: To be considered official, documents must come directly from the issuing institution or third-party service.

If you completed your undergraduate degree outside the United States, we may request that your transcript be evaluated by the World Education Service, AACRAO International Education Services, or another evaluation agency approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (such as International Education Evaluation).

Frequently Asked Questions for Graduate Admissions

LIM College’s Marcuse School of Graduate Studies operates on a rolling admission basis, meaning we accept applications until the start of the Fall or Spring semester as long as spots are available. 

Because class sizes are limited, we encourage you to apply early.

The Office of Admissions will notify you of its decision within two to four weeks of receiving your application and other admissions materials.

LIM College’s Marcuse School of Graduate Studies does not require applicants to submit standardized test scores as part of the admissions process.
